The Yampa Valley medical flight crash took place 15 years ago claiming the lives of three people onboard and severely injuring one. Yet, the memory of it remains fresh in the minds of those that were affected by it. On a fateful Tuesday night, the medical flight had crashed near Rawlins, Wyoming, which is roughly 150 miles from Steamboat – the town to which the victims belonged. Bad weather and poor visibility were cited to be the cause of the unfortunate happening. The crew, at the time, was en route to pick a road accident victim. It had taken a 90-people team and scanning of a 20-mile radius to finally locate the fallen aircraft.
Friends and Colleagues Came together to Remember the Medical Flight Crash
On January 11, 2005, the medical flight crash had snuffed the lives of the pilot and the company director, Tim Benway as well as flight nurses Jennifer Wells and Dave Linner. Tim Baldwin who was an emergency technician had been critically injured but later recovered well. The friends, locals as well as emergency professionals gathered to remember the fallen this month to mark the 15th anniversary of the tragedy. The crew was travelling on a 1978 Beechcraft King Air E-90.
Friend of Tim Benway, Patty Oakland, who is also a emergency professional along with Baldwin’s wife, Liz and Everett, their son came together to remember the heroes. Oakland rightly pointed that the fallen remain alive in the memories of the loved ones they leave behind. She said that they live on through the stories that the loved ones recall.

Flowers of sorrow and remembrance found themselves at the memorial sculpture dedicated to the crew members that had lost their lives 15 years ago. Locals and emergency professionals took the time to remember how the three had laid their lives to serve the community.
