Published:

It was just a month ago that a Learjet 35 air ambulance belonging to Aeromedevac crashed close to San Diego, California snuffing the lives of all four crew members on board. Two days after that a helicopter involved in firefighting crashed in Argentina taking the lives of two people on board. This time around, it was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The good news is that all people on board the air ambulance survived. The air ambulance belonged to Air Methods, which is one of the biggest medical flight service providers in the United States with a presence in almost all parts of the country.

Who Was Onboard the Air Ambulance During the Crash?

The crew comprised the pilot and two other members. They were carrying an infant at the time but it was not clear what the medical condition of the child was that warranted emergency air ambulance transport. However, the infant survived too. All four that were involved in the crash were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for a health check-up and treatment of any possible injuries. It was reported that none of them suffered any major bodily injuries. The rescue crew had reached the crash site pretty quickly and extracted all the people involved in the crash safely.

What was the Cause of the Crash?

A mechanical problem has been cited as the reason for the air ambulance crash. It was reported that the medical flight started experiencing a few mechanical troubles midair. This early report came from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. A detailed investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will soon follow. However, considering that these investigations are quite thorough, they take a protracted amount of time before the results are finally made public. The air ambulance was part of LifeNet which is based out of Hagerstown, Maryland.
