Air Ambulance Cost a Worry for Ireland

Published:

The world today is a much smaller place thanks to the ability to travel from point A to point B in unbelievably short periods of time. The same goes for healthcare. What makes this possible? The answer is obvious: air ambulance services. The big question that needs to be asked is, therefore, this: What if there were no air ambulance services? This is the dilemma that the charities that run such services in Ireland are asking. The question was popped as part of the international air ambulance week, which will go on until September 14, 2021. For charitable air ambulance services, the period is all about creating awareness and inspiring people to fund them for the cause.

Charity-Run Air Ambulance Services are a Necessity

Countries like the United States and India are solely dependent on Insurance and individual payments to recover their costs. The result is a heavy cost burden on the general public. However, countries like the United Kingdom and Ireland have found the perfect solution for this issue. The air ambulance services in these countries put the onus on keeping them afloat in communities. It is common to find that people proactively hold charity drives to raise funds for their local air ambulance services.

The Fund Requirement is Quite Big

As part of the international air ambulance week, air ambulance charities in Ireland are appealing to corporates and educational institutes to help further their need for funds. In this context, it must be noted that the cost of keeping such services running runs into millions of dollars. Each charity undertakes about 500 plus rescue missions every year. It does not take a genius to guess that in most of these instances the injuries and ailments are quite severe and require urgent medical attention. Only air ambulance services can come to the rescue in such situations.
