Air Ambulance Service Taxies Could Be a Reality in the Future

Published:

In our last article we discussed about Elon Musk’s SpaceX rockets and how they could, one day, make intercontinental air ambulance service a reality. Come to think of it, local air ambulances services could be made much more efficient if we had flying cars. Well if you think no one’s thought of flying taxis yet, you’re absolutely wrong. Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber is already investing in flying taxis, which tells us that air ambulance service taxis could not be too far away.

The Idea of Flying Taxis – How did it all Begin?

The idea took birth in the unlikeliest of the places – twitter! It was when Elon Musk was asked what he thinks about flying taxis that he said, “If you love drones above your house, you’ll really love vast numbers of cars flying over your head that are 1000 times bigger and noisier and blow away anything that isn’t nailed down when they land.”

The Uber CEO shot back by saying, “Challenge accepted. Improved battery tech (thx 2 @elonmusk) and multiple smaller rotors will be much more efficient and avoid noise + environmental pollution.”

How Far Away is Air Ambulance Service Taxi?

Uber hopes to get this going by the end of this decade or early next. They are already investing heavily on it. The result could be a technology that many players in the taxicab industry would welcome with open arms. We feel, once this happens, air ambulance service taxis would not be too far from reality. For the patients it could open new doors in terms of accessibility as well as cost. These smaller flying vehicles would cost less and at the same time be very accessible for short distances. Of course, the regulations that govern these vehicles and other logistical issues would need to be ironed out too.
