Despite some recent news about people facing financial distress due to air transport and medical services, there’s some heartwarming news from England. Kaylie Parvin, a 27-year-old hairdresser, is running a half marathon in an attempt to raise money for the air ambulance transport service responsible for saving her son’s life.
How an Air Ambulance Transport Service Saved a Boy’s Life
Back in 2013, Louis Parvin had suffered a fractured skull along with bleeding in his brain after a wardrobe fell on him. He had to undergo an emergency blood transfusion and had to fight for his life following the accident. After over a week in the hospital, he was able to make a full recovery because of the quick intervention of the crew at Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.
The air ambulance medics were able to assist little Louis at the scene of the accident and put him in an induced coma. They then airlifted him directly to King’s College Hospital, where he received necessary treatment. With the timely help of these medics, the youngster could get the medical attention for his brain injuries before things got too critical.
Louis’ Mom Running Half Marathon to Raise Funds
The air ambulance transport service that was responsible for Louis Parvin’s life solely relies on donations. As a way to say “thank you” to them, the Parvin family has collected donations to support the charity.
Last year, 4-year-old Louis appeared as a special guest at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the trust in Canterbury Cathedral. In this event, his father Peter read about all the lifesaving work the organization has been doing. The organization is currently working towards building a £7.5m base at Paddock Wood’s Old Hay Airfield and could use all the help it can get.
Now Louis’ mother Kaylie will be participating in the Paddock Wood half marathon, which will be her first ever half marathon. The 13-mile run will be taking place on Sunday, April 3 and Parvin will be running with her sister Melanie Vine and her friend Kathryn Wright. So far, she’s managed to raise over £500 and can be sponsored through this link.
