Air Ambulance Bravehearts Honored by National EMS Memorial

Every year National EMS Memorial honors those emergency medical personnel who lay down their lives in the line of duty. The list of 15 individuals was recently announced by the organization and includes several brave personnel belonging to the air ambulance industry. These individuals would be joining the list of 644 people who have been honored before.

The Names of the Air Ambulance Greats

James Butler: He belonged to TriState CareFlight and laid down his life in the line of duty on July 17th of last year.

David Cavigneaux: He also belonged to TriState CareFlight and lost his life on July 17th in the same air ambulance accident. He died as a result of his injuries.

Rebecca Serkey: She also was part of TriState CareFlight and did not survive the injuries she sustained during the air ambulance tragedy on July 17th last year.

Monica Chavez: She was a part of Elite Medical Transport and died on August 27th of last year from the injuries sustained during an air ambulance evacuation.

Juan Alfredo Martinez: He belonged to Elite Medical Transport and his life was snuffed on August 27th. He did not survive the injuries he sustained during an air ambulance mishap.

Taurean Summers: Taurean also belonged to Elite Medical Transport and died on August 27, 2014 from the injuries sustained in an air ambulance accident.

Erasmus van der Colff IV: This brave crew member belonged to Air Evac Lifeteam and expired on October 22nd last year as a result of injuries sustained during air ambulance tragedy.

Leslie Stewart: Leslie also involved in the accident and belonged to Air Evac Lifeteam, and the life was lost on October 22nd last year.

The National EMS Memorial Service

The families of these brave men and women would receive a US flag, a medallion, and a white rose, symbolizing eternal memory, dedication to service and love respectively. Their names would be etched on a bronze oak leaf which would be made a part of the “Tree of Life” present in the National EMS Memorial.
